The debut of urban fantasy anthology series "Chickweed Magik", "Wannabe" tells a provocative coming-of-age story. When their bus breaks down on a school trip, a quartet of cheerleaders sneak off into the nearby woods. A hallucinatory occurrence veers them off path and they become lost - soon, they meet a mysterious woman and what she claims is a fountain that grants eternal life. The otherworldly experience immerses the teens in a confrontation with what they believe about their identities as young Black women and the meaning of life.
