OTV | Open Television is a non-profit platform for intersectional television. We incubate, distribute, and exhibit artists that commercial television networks and art institutions do not develop consistently: artists who identify with multiple identities marginalized by the market and society. OTV experiments with alternative ways to develop, produce, and exhibit art and television. Our programs center artistic expression, intersectionality, Chicago and digital networking.
OTV Retrospective is a reflection on the past five years of the organization’s journey. Co-founders Dr. Aymar Jean Christian and Elijah McKinnon take viewers on a cinematic tour of its humble beginnings as a research project answering the simple question “do intersectional stories matter?”
The tour commences at its current status with a brand new app, international programming and some wild card stunts that you’ll have to watch to see. The OTV Retrospective is amplified with curated selection of programming and series in addition to interviews featuring their personal artistic journeys on the road to developing intersectional content.
