Short drama by Elizabeth Tawose.
In a world where fair and light-skinned women are seen as the standard of beauty, high school student Amari Stevens struggles to see the beauty in her dark brown skin color. When Amari is rejected by her crush Cameron Jones, for her “lighter” friend Kiara Williams, she is pushed to take matters into her own hands. Amari turns to skin bleach cream to solve her problems and she soon faces the consequences of trying to change her outer appearance.

Originally from the south suburbs of Chicago, Elizabeth T. Tawose is a director, writer, and a model. She also runs a community organization, Yorùbá Land Connection that connects and highlights Yorùbá people & the culture. As a first-generation Nigerian-American, Tawose has always had a love for television, fantasy, and writing. When she was little, she used to write and illustrate her own short stories.
Elizabeth has worked on many different productions such as Black-ish, Grown-ish, Netflix's Shameless, HBO’s Juice WRLD doc, and numerous others. Her short film “Sunflower” has already garnered critical acclaim, with Tawose receiving recognition for her directorial vision and the film's powerful message. Along with her short film, Elizabeth has directed episodes of numerous web series as well as many other short form videos. Through her work, she aims to ignite confidence in oneself and encourage individuals to challenge their views of the world, while bringing her Yorùbá culture to the forefront.
Tawose is an alumna of The Ohio State University. In her free time, she enjoys catching up on her favorite television shows, eating, playing flute, reading a good fantasy book, and playing tennis.
