Brave Futures Film Race is an intersectional competition that challenges creatives, storytellers filmmakers of all levels to create an entire short film in 48 hours.
Using an intersectional theme, one prop and and action, we are challenging filmmakers in Johannesburg to create a film in 24-48 hours using Afropunk Joburg 2019 as their canvas. Films submitted by the deadline will be screened that following week for a chance to win a cash prize, score a distribution deal with OTV and have their film premiere at OTV Tonight hosted at the Museum of Contemporary Art - Chicago in Spring 2019 and more.
What exactly is the OTV 48 Film Race:
The OTV 48 Hour Film Race is a competition that challenges filmmakers to create an entire film in 48 Hours, using a surprise Theme (for example: "intersectional feminism"), Prop (ex. Afropunk) and action (ex. biting into watermelon) provided at the beginning of the competition. Aside from those three elements, you have free rein over your film. You are free to choose your own genre and be as creative as you want. All films must be under 7 minutes and submitted by Sunday, December 8 at 23:59.
