OTV | Open Television is a non-profit platform for intersectional television. We incubate, distribute, and exhibit artists that commercial television networks and art institutions do not develop consistently: artists who identify with multiple identities marginalized by the market and society. OTV experiments with alternative ways to develop, produce, and exhibit art and television. Our programs center artistic expression, intersectionality, Chicago and digital networking.
Manifold is an experimental anthology docuseries exploring the nuances of Black and Queer identity. This collaborative production platforms the creative works and visions of poets, performers, organizers, musicians, and more -- to express the real life experiences of Chicago’s Black LGBTQ+ community. Each episode unpacks a new topic, features different participants, and illustrates variable artistic storytelling styles.
We follow the organizers and artists in residence of DIVINE: Ry, Sebastian, Talia, and Monique, as well as herbalist Mariah Emerson as they all create spiritual healing spaces for LGBTQ+ folks in Chicago.
